DETAILS:

The Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts was founded in 1956. The Foundation makes project-based grants to individuals and organizations while producing public programs about architecture and its role in the arts, culture and society. Since 1963, the Foundation has been located in the Madlener House, a turn-of-the-century Prairie-Style mansion. It features a stunning entryway and ornamentation by Hugh M. G. Garden. The landmark building now houses exhibition galleries, an architectural bookshop, an outdoor collection of architectural fragments, a library of grantee publications, and a ballroom where the Foundation presents a robust schedule of public programs. As an official site of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, the Foundation’s current exhibition is part of its sixth edition, "Shift: Architecture in Times of Radical Change."

VISITOR EXPERIENCE:

After a brief introduction, visitors will be invited to explore the Biennial exhibition at their own pace throughout the building. The Foundation’s galleries, bookshop, library, and outdoor architectural fragments courtyard will be open.
