DETAILS:

Completed in 1897 as Chicago’s first central public library, this landmark building became the Chicago Cultural Center in 1991, nicknamed “The People’s Palace.” It is the nation’s first and most comprehensive free municipal cultural venue, hosting hundreds of free art exhibitions, films, lectures, music, dance, theatre, and family events yearly for a local, regional, national, and international audience–presented by the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and many others.

VISITOR EXPERIENCE:

Visitors are encouraged to take a self-guided tour of the building's numerous spaces and Chicago Architecture Biennial exhibitions. PLEASE NOTE: Preston Bradley Hall and GAR Hall are booked for private events on both days of OHC and will not be available for viewing.
