DETAILS:

Boxville is Chicago's first shipping container market. What began in 2014 with one repurposed shipping container offering seasonal bike repair on a vacant lot at 51st Street and the CTA Green Line, has grown into a colorful collection of 20+ containers offering an assortment of delicious food, local crafts, and a range of wellness products produced by local entrepreneurs within a fun and music-filled marketplace. Boxville received the inaugural MacArthur Foundation Placemaking Award in 2019 for its role in transforming 51st Street, and it continues to grow today.

VISITOR EXPERIENCE:

Visitors will experience Boxville in full: delicious food, socially conscious streetwear, homemade body care products, community wellness outreach, and other products of neighborhood entrepreneurs, accompanied by music from some of Chicago’s best DJs and musicians.
