DETAILS:

In 2016-2017, the not-for-profit film organization Chicago Filmmakers rehabbed and converted this retired firehouse into a media arts hub. The facility hosts screenings, classes, and other activities in support of the independent filmmaking community. Designed by architect Argyle E. Robinson, it is considered the most ornate of the “Grand Firehouses” built in Chicago in the late 1920s. Because of its corner location, this particular firehouse stands out with its brick and granite facade and terracotta ornamentation on all four elevations. The firehouse was designated a Chicago Historic Landmark in 2008.

VISITOR EXPERIENCE:

Visitors are welcome to enjoy a self-guided tour throughout the building.
