DETAILS:

Since its completion in 1926, Swift Hall has served as the architectural and intellectual home of the University of Chicago Divinity School, anchoring its influence at the heart of the Hyde Park campus. Designed in the Collegiate Gothic style by Coolidge and Hodgdon, the building was dedicated to philanthropist Ann Swift. The Divinity School traces its roots to the 1890s. It remains a leading center for the academic study of religion. As the largest institutional educator of faculty in theology and religious studies, it is home to a diverse community of scholars exploring enduring human questions through the lens of religion.

ENTRANCE INSTRUCTIONS:

Accessible via the University of Chicago main quad. Enter the quad via 58th Street or Ellis Avenue, the front doors are on the north side of the building overlooking the quad.

VISITOR EXPERIENCE:

Optional timed, guided tours with trained volunteers will be offered as well as a self-guided tour of the Swift 100 Exhibit, celebrating the building's centennial.
