DETAILS:

Chicago Theological Seminary is a graduate seminary in the Hyde Park neighborhood, founded in 1855. The institution trains spiritual leaders and scholars and has actively participated in social justice movements throughout its history. When the University of Chicago built their Hyde Park campus, they invited CTS to move nearby. For the last decade-plus, CTS has been located in a modern, sustainably-designed building. A central design feature is a creative tension stemming from a square being bisected by a circle. Multiple stained-glass windows were moved from the old to the new location, and faculty carefully selected the specific scriptures on each floor. The first floor features the Wall of Heroes, an art piece showcasing prominent theologians and leaders. And in the third floor Learning Commons you'll find the Morgan Model Collection, a travelling exhibit featuring detailed models of worship spaces in the Chicagoland area.

VISITOR EXPERIENCE:

Guests will have access able to hallway areas on floors 1-4 and the exterior memorial garden, with specific areas being highlighted and information about the space displayed. Visit the Learning Commons and chapel as well.
