DETAILS:

A first-of-its-kind neighborhood amenity, Starling by Duo/. is the first commercial building to open on 16th Street in North Lawndale in over 70 years. The building operates as a café open to the public and is also available to rent by-the-hour for people to host programming and events such as gallery shows, yoga classes, book launches, music production, and birthday parties. The spaces come together to serve as a platform for people to bring their vision and/or business idea to life. The hand-painted blue concrete walls represent liberation.

VISITOR EXPERIENCE:

Guests will have access to explore the building on a self-guided tour. Spaces on view include Moon Room (a public library nook with free books curated by Open Books), Sun Room (open space with a sky light), Sound Studio (small recording studio set up as plug-and-play for people to set up with their computers and record songs, podcasts, etc.), Meeting Room, terraces, garden, and anchor tenant and roastery Monday Coffee. Starling by Duo/. is one of four OHC Neighborhood Headquarters, serving as a gathering place and information hub for festival attendees, site partners, and volunteers on the West Side of Chicago.
