DETAILS:
This manufacturing building was converted into a recording studio in the 1990s by musician and sound engineer Steve Albini. It served as his homebase for the remainder of his career, hosting thousands of recording sessions. Albini passed away suddenly in 2024, but the studio carries on as a hub for independent music in Chicago and the world over. The building's previous lives include a screen printing shop, likely manufacturing space for the Bally pinball company, and, originally, a dairy barn.
VISITOR EXPERIENCE:
Visitors will line up outside for short guided tours for up to 15 people, disembarking every 15 minutes.
