DETAILS:
This private club was founded in 1907 as the Attic Club and renamed the Cliff Dwellers in 1909. It moved to the 22nd floor of 200 South Michigan in 1996, sporting some of the best views in the Loop, after inhabiting the top floor of neighboring Orchestra Hall for decades. It remains a private club and nonprofit organization for men and women who support the fine and performing arts. The club is a haven for artists, authors, musicians, painters, architects, and sculptors. Notable members have included the architects Louis Sullivan, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Daniel Burnham, sculptors Lorado Taft and Richard Hunt, Goodman Theatre founders William and Erna Goodman, Roger Ebert, and many others.
VISITOR EXPERIENCE:
Guests may take a self-guided tour of the 22nd floor club space and terrace. Club members will be on hand to answer questions and speak about the history.
