DETAILS:
The Weaving Mill is Chicago's only artist-run industrial weaving studio where limited editions of home goods and apparel and designed and produced, as well as yardage fabrics using industrial weaving equipment ranging in age from 1919-2005. Projects prioritize quality craftsmanship, creative use of color and material, and a holistic approach to sustainability. The Weaving Mill also works with artists and corporate clients to produce custom textiles. Partnering with Envision Unlimited, the Mill runs a handweaving program for adults with developmental disabilities. Members of the program will be on site to share information and showcase the handweaving process. The Weaving Mill grew out of the Chicago Weaving Corporation, a local weaving operation that began in the 1940s in Wicker Park.

VISITOR EXPERIENCE:
The Weaving Mill production studio and shop will be open for visitors, with optional guided tours of the industrial weaving process with machine demonstrations at set times (11am, 1pm, 3pm). The weaving machines are quite loud and fast, and visitors will be asked to maintain safe distance. Earplugs will be offered to those who would like them.
